Trauma

There is a connection to the body and mind in trauma that shows up in our patterned behaviors, some call them addictive or obsessive. I have found that to ease some of these behaviors and burdens can come in many ways towards healing. It can be through talking in a counseling room, using EMDR, or Somatic Experiencing while applying movement in a psychotherapeutic yoga session.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. It is an effective treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Yoga

Yoga in the therapy room is used to help incorporate the body and mind connection. The yoga being used is gentle and improves your internal awareness and regulation. The goal of yoga is to gain a deeper connection to yourself.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy approaches working with the individual’s sensory information from what happens to you in your life is stored not only in your mind but also in your body. It is a comprehensive approach to therapy.

ETT

Emotional Transformation Therapy® (ETT®), a therapeutic method incorporating the use of light, color wavelengths, and eye movements, aims to rapidly transform emotional distress and related physical pain into a positive emotional state. In ETT®, neural impulses are used in conjunction with specific forms of eye movement and stimulation to target these uncomfortable emotional and physical states in the corresponding areas of the brain. The brain is stimulated with lights and colors in order to reshape the neural impulses affecting the brain and the nervous system.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves working with several people on a common issue or conflict. This type of therapy can be most beneficial when the person within place support systems and ability to self-assess.

These populations have been trained to function in conditions that others naturally run from. I believe the work is focused on getting the system from a rigidly set reactive mode to a more fluidly shifting response that empowering the individual’s choices in times of crisis.
